Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of tiny needles into the body. The insertion of needles into specific points helps to increase blood flow, decrease inflammation, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system so that your body can return to a balanced state and heal itself.

I received my acupuncture training in Boulder, Colorado, at Southwest Acupuncture College.  My program included 3,000 hours of classroom instruction and supervised clinical treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which includes acupuncture, bodywork, nutritional therapy, and Chinese herbal medicine.  I hold a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine, and I am licensed in the state of Colorado, as well as board certified.

Before I found acupuncture, I graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University, and I worked as a teacher for several years.  I found acupuncture on a quest to improve my digestion and manage stress more effectively.  When my acupuncturist took lots of time to ask me all about my life and my history, I left her office feeling calm and optimistic that someone was actually listening to me and helping me.  I knew that this was powerful and effective medicine, and I needed to know more.  I decided to pursue my own career in Chinese Medicine, and I don’t have any regrets!

In my years of practice, I have loved working with clients to find the root cause of their health concerns and addressing them to help them feel their best.  Our bodies are complex, and acupuncture is really effective at addressing these complicated pictures, no matter your stage of life.

Cosmetic acupuncture is the perfect compliment to my practice style, since it allows my clients to not only feel their best, but look amazing too.  One of my cosmetic acupuncture clients told me that a stranger remarked to her, “You look like you must feel really great,” and that is exactly what cosmetic acupuncture offers, the chance to wow strangers with your healthy glow.

As a mom and former teacher, pediatric acupuncture was always something I wanted to focus on as well.  I spent time shadowing pediatric acupuncturists during my training in Boulder, and I’m happy to help even the littlest of us to feel their best every day!

When I’m not in the office, I’m with my 1-year-old son, and we enjoy hiking, doing yoga, skiing, reading, swimming, doing crafts, and cooking together.
